I don't have any of my own, but I've seen my mom and aunt go at it enough times to know. Mom's the older of the two, she worked hard for everything she had, put herself through school, got married after she graduated, and practically radiated responsibility all her life. Aunt Kat, on the other hand was the baby, and according to mom, has always acted like one. She was spoiled, coasted through life on her good looks and my grandparents' wealth, never seemed stressed or to take anything too seriously (except annoying my mom, to hear her tell it). She even had a flower child phase. When I was younger, there were a couple of years she insisted I call her Moonflower, much to my mom's chagrin.

Suffice it to say, they've never seen eye to eye.

When they fight, which is frequently, nothing really seems off the table. I've heard them dig up old conflicts from their time as teens, tales of stolen boyfriends and who really deserved the Volkswagen. I've heard the old legends about birthday parties and borrowed dresses and who the weed really belonged to more than once, and as amusing as it is, the real fun always comes when Aunt Kat gets creative.

Whenever she and mom really go at it, she likes to make a show of buying me presents, just to get under my mom's skin. Sisterly spite has bought me a fair share of games and bluerays and my first drinks of several choice alcoholic beverages. Aunt Kat even offered to give the old Beetle so I could drive to community college. That one pissed mom off more than the liquor. Years later and she was still sore about that car.

Years of that made it transparent, but I've never complained. Whenever they fight, it's like a little taste of Christmas.

Little did I know, their sibling rivalry was about to get a lot more fun for me. After their last fight, my aunt got a little... flirty.
