In class or at work or even in the comfort of your loving relationship, sure, you're protected. By your clothes, by your secrecy, by your ability to lie through your teeth. But what if somebody knew? What if you knew somebody knew? What if they knew you knew they knew? Right now I have nothing on you, but the second you reply to this prompt you’ll cede a critical information advantage to me, and suddenly you’ll be vulnerable. The question you’ll have to decide is whether that’s scary, or whether it’s exciting.

Think about the names of all the people in your life. Former classmates, co-workers, other people. Imagine you had the chance to confess your deepest vulnerabilities to one of them at random, but you wouldn’t know who. Every time they’d think of you, they’d snicker at your secrets. Maybe they’d use them against you, maybe they wouldn’t. It’s a bit risky. But that’s the thrill…
