I tossed the glossy white pamphlet to the ground with disdain, allowing myself an internal smirk as I saw the pristine, polished people in the picture crumple along with the lettering proudly proclaiming "Obedience training for young women"
I'm twenty fucking one years old, I don't need this shit
I cocked my head to the side and gave my parents my dirtiest are you serious look. See I had messed up. I left my reddit account open and my horrified Christian parents got a good view of what their daughter was up to when away from prying eyes, and they were less than pleased.
I barely listened as they prattled on about the neighbor's daughter Pam and how after only one weekend at this place she had gone from sullen and stubborn to the sweet girl they all loved again. In my head I was regretting being so dependent on my parents still, fi I wasn't maybe I could get out of this, but part of me knew I wasn't going to give up my phone, car, and other luxuries just to skip a weekend at some dumb camp.
I texted friends and made excuses for having to spend the weekend away and packed as lightly as I could, making sure my phone was well hidden in my bags so at least I would have something to do. I gave one last sigh and snapped my seatbelt in tightly, making my displeasure known to all as we left my driveway and headed to our destination.
If my parents or anyone had actually bothered to look into the company behind the pamphlets they may have had second thoughts about where they were sending me. The director of the camp did not exactly advertise that they had been removed from their last post due to extreme "moral bankruptcy" while working on a secretive CIA program that was using a potent cocktail of neural inhibitors the suppressed free will and made the subject extremally suggestible and compliant. What the CIA did not know is that after letting this person go, they had backups of all their work stored at home and had no intentions of letting their work go to waste...
