The melodic beat abruptly stopped as I pulled off the headphones, gently casting them back to my phone, wrapped in a waterproof case. Letting out an exacerbated sigh, I leaned back on the leather bar stool, resting my back on the wooden support of the tiki hut, my thick pair of lips gently suckling on the pina colada, the comically sized umbrella gently rubbing against my cheek. By all intents and purposes, I should be having the time of my life. For the next week and a half, I get to spend my days in a luxury 5-star resort in the Caribbean, surrounded by clear skies, golden beaches, and a team of staff paid 6 figures to give us the most cordial service money could buy. When my parents first suggested the trip to me, I couldn’t believe it, a spring break spent in paradise? It was almost too good to be true.

Well, it turns out it was too good to be true, because as soon as we arrived at the hotel, we found it virtually empty, devoid of any like-minded girls, shirtless studs, or raunchy beach parties, a traumatic revelation. It turns out that my parents used the trip to contain me and prevent the ‘shameful shenanigans’ I got caught doing last year (It wasn’t my fault Aunt Jasmine saw some guy motorboating me on her facebook feed). All the weeks I spent preparing, all those skimpy bikini’s and dresses I bought were all ultimately done in vain, with my days now spent in a horrendous state of sobriety and prudeness.

But if anyone thought they could exile me away from a summer of debauchery and ecstasy, then those fuckers had something coming to them.
