It’s been thirty years since the great Atlantean war wiped out most of the mermaid population. Now, with most of the male population either dead, or too old to be fertile, your kingdom is taking drastic measures in order to ensure its survival.
Even if that means using humans to do it
It takes months to find the right human, the kingdoms witches scrying for days at a time until finally, one day, a suitable breeder is found. Through dreams he’s tested. His heart must be strong, his will resolute. Through magic his virility is enhanced. Finally he is ready. That summer, while with his family at the beach, he is taken, two mermaids grabbing him and dragging him into the cool blue depths of the ocean to serve a grand purpose:
Saving the kingdom.
