You were the hottest thing on the political scene that anyone could remember. You'd gone from the mayor of your town to Parliament and leader of your party by 30. You'd run the opposition effectively, and finally become the Prime Minister in last summer's election. Now you were almost 40, the youngest leader our country had ever seen. You graced magazine covers across the world and gave little girls everywhere someone to look up to.

I'd come to your government as a low level clerk, just a wide-eyed kid who wanted a little fraction of your star to rub off on me. I'd gotten transferred from the Education Ministry to your staff within six months, and staked out my little corner as soon as I graduated. I'd started at the bottom, processing mail and working with the interns who I had so recently been one of. To the outside world we were friendly, but the truth was so much deeper and richer.

Because under the surface, we were in love. Well, I was in love and I hoped you were too. Your life hadn't allowed a marriage or a family, and I knew sometimes you were lonely. I couldn't really remember how our affair had started, but I was waking up in your bed more times than not. Some people wondered why an administrator was there so early, but nobody really seemed to care. We just had our moments, and were content with them.
