It was a million to one chance of a million to one accident, but he'd always had problem figuring out probability.
Three years of memory, gone in an instant. He'd moved back home with his parents, had relearned how to talk, how to walk, how to fend for himself, how to tend to himself.
Over the months, he managed to piece together bits and pieces; he owned a house, a car, had a job. Had- or had had- a girlfriend. Nobody had ever been to where he lived. Nobody had ever met this girlfriend. Nobody knew what his job had been. He'd not been secretive, exactly, but he'd always been a private person, and the him-from-the-three-years had apparently been more private than usual.
Every day he wondered about the life he'd lost, about what was waiting for him when he turned up back wherever it was.
Then one day, a breakthrough; a private detective his parents had hired had found this house, this car, this life, and in a place not too far away. In a place he'd walked by regularly, even.
He found himself in front of the door in due course, staring up at an ordinary house in an ordinary suburb of an ordinary place. Key in hand, heart in his throat, he approached the door, unlocked it, opened it.
He stood there a moment, sucked in a deep breath, exhaled a shaky one, and stepped into a life he'd thought he'd lost forever.
Sorry this is a little stream-of-consciousness. I'm not sure where to take this, or what to do with it, other than I'd really like to do something light and fluffy and romantic- or seemingly so. I have a ton of ideas for who you could play, but I'm open to thoughts and suggestions and workshopping this.
This may get a little intimate, so please be of the right kind of mentality for that. I don't really have a preference for length of posts, beyond 'more than three sentences', but please be aware I prefer first person past tense, though I can do third person past tense, too.
I tend to use Discord for my roleplaying, by the way, so...please have that?
