This is a bit of a foil to my previous post, Follow the Rules in Your Little Black Book
You clutch your book tight and take a deep breath as you try to push all the anxiety and nervousness away. You open up the book and peek inside, trying to reassure yourself; it always helps, but you try not to rely on it too much. A quick glance inside and you find what you were looking for. You knew it was there of course, but it helps to see it, in my handwriting.
Rule 3: When you feel overwhelmed, stop and take three deep breaths. Hold each breath for 5 seconds.
Later, youâre pouring over a book (not the book), taking notes, doing research when you feel a twinge in your stomach. Checking the time you see itâs 2:30 and you havenât eaten yet today. You know that itâs your body telling you to eat, but you just donât feel like doing it, and plus youâre not actually hungry, right? Unsure of what to do, you open your little white book.
Rule 4: Make sure to eat lunch every day, even if itâs not much. Youâre not allowed to skip meals.
Now itâs after lunch, and youâre feeling lethargic; you made yourself eat a small meal, which satisfied your appetite, but left you feeling tired and sluggish. You can barely force yourself to get up out of the spot you ate your lunch in. You sigh as you realize that thereâs a rule you should really be following. You know that if you can force yourself to follow the rule, youâll feel better, but in order to make yourself stick to it, you have to open up your book and read my words.
Rule 2: Take a 15 minute walk every day.
Your day is almost over, but that doesnât stop you from feeling down in the dumps. You just feel so tired, worn out. The rules helped, but they canât fix everything. You feel lonely too. There are plenty of people around, but all of them are strangers to you, and that makes you feel even more lonely than if you were all by yourself. It doesnât help that even though youâre almost done for the day, I wonât be back for a few more hours. With a heavy heart, you decide to use your ultimate pick-me-up. You open your book to the very first page, with your first rule written in large text taking up the whole page.
Rule 1: When you feel sad or lonely, twist your ring three times, and then remember how much I love you.
âHey, how was your day, stressful?â I ask as I arrive home three hours after you.
âIt was,â you say solemnly. âI had to use four rules today. Number one always makes me alright though, so Iâm not doing too bad.â
Without saying a word, I walk over to you and give you a tight hug, kissing your neck as we embrace. âOh, Iâm just glad you feel good. Donât feel bad because you used the rules, thatâs what theyâre for.â
âYeah, thank you so much for them, it makes everything just a bit easier,â you reply, blushing more than a little. âUmm, I have an idea,â you begin to add. âItâs a bit out there, though. What if, umm, I had more rules. They donât all have to be to make me feel better, or well⌠they donât have to be designed to make me feel better. Just following your rules makes me feel so much better, like I can do anything. Sometimes itâs hard to do what I know I should be doing, but I always can do what you tell me too. Itâs kinda, actually itâs really comforting. So would you, umm, give me some more rules. They can be rules that you might enjoy too, I want to make you happy too.â
Kinklist, although this can be played pretty close to vanilla.
Even though I used "you" and "I" in the prompt, I'm happy to play either role in this.
