He checks his watch for the fifth time in the last five minutes. He's nervous, almost impatient. It actually surprises him - his usual calm and collected attitude is gone, only to be replaced with the immense amount of stress and nervousness. He blames work for his state - things were hard lately, courtesy of a pretty lucrative contract that his company had a chance of scoring. Nothing else has been on his mind for the last five months as the prospect of a better life and recognition pushed him to the maximum, motivated him to do more.
But even he had his limits.
He looks back at his reflection in the mirror. If one would ignore the painfully obvious, gray bags under his eyes, they would say that he looks... decent. His usual mess of blonde hair has been cut in a tidy fashion with an addition of his three-day stubble makes him look relatively handsome. His light blue eyes go over his attire - the white, long-sleeved shirt tucked in his dark blue pants give a nice contrast, as he smoothes the wrinkles for the umpteenth time. He's tired. Incredibly, incredibly tired. He craves peace, he's desperate for human contact - something that he's been deprived for what feels like an eternity.
Something that only she would guarantee him.
Looking at the brown envelope that contained five thousand dollars inside, he feels his heart flutter just at the thought of seeing her. He missed her, he missed her with every fiber of his body. He missed her touch, he missed her fingertips brushing against his scalp, he missed her soft voice whispering sweet nothings in his ear. He missed the calmness of his soul comes with her close proximity.
After what feels like forever, he finally hears it. Light knocking reaches his ears as he springs up from his chair, trying - successfully so far - to contain his emotions.
Two seconds later he opens the door, the first look at her making him forget about breathing. She's... stunning. As always. A plain white blouse tucked inside a knee-length black pencil skirt with the right amount of cleavage invitingly hinting a faint outline of a dark, lace bra. Her hair is tied up in a simple, plain ponytail and her lips are painted in red - just the way he likes it.
He almost chuckles at his own reaction - they've been seeing each other pretty regularly and every single time she managed to render him speechless. Every. Single. Time.
"Hey." his voice is soft and gentle, as he looks at her face with a genuine, happy smile. "I'm glad you made it."
