"Resistant to debriefing, yes. Well put, Cartwright. That's why they want you to go in- Brits are an unknown quantity over there, though of course you'll have to"

"Affect the accent, yes. Would you prefer something Midwestern, New England, or..."

"Don't tell me. I'll leave it to your discretion. As you can see in the file, we'll be looping you in through our controlled chapter here, claiming you're a high-ranking member of this one who wants to see how they do things stateside- sorry 'back home'- and that's your in."

"Yes, I understand, Prescott, but I don't get why..."

"Why now?"

"Yes. Why now?"

"Certain...family members of certain high-ranking members of our society have made their way into this...commune. It is our firm belief that, like the disappeared agents, they may be victims of something nefarious, or just plain brain-washed. We want you to go over there, scope out the place, and try and one, take them all down, two, save the agents if possible, and three, get out any of our people. You have full discretion on your methods, and we're allowing you to take the cover as deep as you need to."

"As deep..?"

"As you need to. I don't think I need spell it out, do I, Cartwright?"

"No, sir. I shall...I shall discharge my duties as best as I can, sir".

"Good man. And Cartwright? Drop by the armoury on your way out. Take the usual kit with you".

"Yes, sir. See you on the other side, sir, whatever that may look like".

The man stirred, shifting in his sleep. The figure at his side mewled sleeping and rolled away, letting him stand. Stretching, he staggered into the bathroom, blearily watching himself in the mirror as he peed. The face looking back was one he both recognised, and barely recognised; his hair was the same jet black as it had ever been, but it was long, tousled, tangled, long enough to brush against his shoulders in this unbound state; his beard was long, too, though neatly-trimmed, the ends touching his chest; his eyes were the same blueish-green they'd always been, but now were rimmed in red from lack of sleep. The crow's feet at the corners of his eyes had deepened, and his laughter-lines by his mouth had crinkled even more. He liked this new laid-back look of his, but he hated the reasons for it, and wished, more than anything, that he could trim it all back and shave it all off and go back to his suits and his coffee.

He yawned as he shuffled back into the main room, reaching out to grab the white-lined latte-shaded robe from the hook, slipping it over his head as he tied it tighter round his waist. It was a bastardisation of a monk's habit, and he hated it, hated that he wore nothing underneath it; but given the nature of the people, it was understandable, if nothing else.

He sighed again, shook himself, and stepped outside, taking a deep breath.

As he walked along the path, one person saw him, then another, then another, and the cry of the first was caught by the rest, and spread like wildfire amongst them:

"Blessed be the day! Brother Love walks among us!"

So, this can be modern, or we can do it back in the sixties or something. The general gist is that this is a sex cult styling itself as some kind of holy thing, and people who take part in it very rarely leave. You can play one of the undercover agents, or one of the prestigious members of society, or even just a random newcomer or a veteran of the cult. Or all of the above, if you're feeling adventurous. Or come to me with your own ideas. I'm easy.
