BROWNPORT CASTLE, East Kingdom — Recently-signed bard Nicodemus the Blue is entirely unaware of the entirely literal nature of the Sex Pixies band, according to sources close to the popular East Kingdom musical group.
"I thought there was no way they'd sign me on, really," said Blue in a recent sit-down interview with Hammer of the Gods magazine. "I came to the audition with only my flying carpet and the lute I started out with, but they said I stood head and shoulders above the competition.
"Literally," Blue added, going on to comment that the remainder of the would-be lutists averaged a scant cubit high, perhaps a testament to the band's origins in the grunge community of the pixie kingdoms in the early IIX's. "But Bolt, Cinder, and Shade really showed a positivity that I'm not used to in the hard-mummery community - a lot of their songs were really upbeat and aggressive. It's a real good energy in the band, too."
Sex Pixies, whose recent hits include Cream Pump, Dripping Quench, and Ready for the Shaft, has taken the musical world by storm in the past year, rising to prominence with their self-titled debut album and concept follow-up All Species Ride.
"I thought Bolt was kidding when she said that the cover of [All Species Ride] was trashed by the Inquisition," Blue admitted to reporters. "Having seen it, though, I can see where the explicit nature might have given them some pause, but I think it's a bold statement that really pushes the boundaries of the art. It's refreshing to be in a group that's comfortable with really exploring the edges of the medium."
Blue credits the "energy and clean living" of the band for its continued success.
"Shade always claims that there's no need for mead, spice, even glittershock," the bassist recounts. "She always says that there's a hit of the [stuff] she prefers right in me already if I'm willing to let her work it out... I think that's a comment on their dedication to help me improve as a lutist. Everyone's real open with each other; I know I've woken up on the tour wagon to find the three of them having a vigorous jam session right next to me."
Blue is set to join the Pixies on their IXVII tour later this year, alleging that the shows planned will "really knock your pants off."
"They keep saying that I won't even need mine," he laughed, before returning to practice.
(Because who doesn't like sexed-up pixies, rock-and-roll, and silly fantasy smut? As usual, I'm always open!)
