I was just a loyal servant of the state this morning. I got up before dawn, did my routine exercises, and happily made my way to my office to process the business of the State. I've always been happy to help my fellow loyal citizens in service to our State's agenda and I wouldn't never trade it for the world.
I was a loyal servant of the State this morning. Yet, by noon, I was hauled off by State Security with serious charges of espionage, sedition, and treason. Before I could process what was happening, many in the nation would view me as a traitor. Images of someone who claimed to be me filled the airwaves and my name was something to not be uttered in polite company. A horrible mistake has taken everything from me and I am now a prisoner of the very state I swore to serve.
Waiting in the small cell for interrogation, I can barely understand what has happened. The guards ignore my pleas and I have lost all track of time as the lights never change. No one will answer any questions when they bring me the small scraps of bread and water for me to eat. I can slowly feel my mind begin to slide into madness as I have nothing to focus on but the mistake that has overtaken me.
Soon, however, I hear my name called as the door opens. The time of my interrogation has come and I have a chance to make my case. There is no way the State would allow such an injustice to go forward and I can feel the bits of hope I have left coming to the surface. There has to be a way to get out of this....I hope.
