"An invisible man can rule the world. Nobody will see him come, nobody will see him go. He can hear every secret. He can rob, and rape, and kill!" -Claude Rains, The Invisible Man
The last time Flora had seen him, she felt sure he was losing his mind. He was raving like a madman, ranting about ruling the world, starting a "reign of terror". But what could she do? He wouldn't listen to her, his fiancé. She wanted to get him help but he left, disappearing into the night.
That's when the news started coming in. At first she convinced herself the deaths were just a coincidence. Members of the search party were found dead. The news of the train derailment, a hundred people killed. It turned her stomach, but she couldn't believe he was the cause of it. Not her Jack.
But then he drove poor Kemp off that cliff. Somehow that made it all more real.
There was no denying it. The drugs had changed him. And not just by making him invisible. They had broken his mind and she was afraid there would be no way to get him back.
She wasn't sure she wanted him back. She had loved him - Jack Griffin, the brilliant scientist. But that's not who he was anymore. He was a monster. He was someone to be feared. As sad as it made her to even think it, he needed to be destroyed.
With the police blundering around the countryside searching for someone who would not be found, she closed herself in her room for days. Every sound jarred her nerves. Every movement at the corner of her eye was suspect. On the third night she lay in bed trying to sleep. Her eyes imagined shapes in the shadows cast by the moonlight until she forced herself to shut them tight. The unmistakable sound of her bedroom door latching startled them back open. She stared, panicking as she watched the key turn itself in the lock.
"Hello, Flora," intoned the disembodied voice of her fiancé.
She couldn't form words to respond as terror overtook her. She sat up, scooting back against the headboard. There was no escape. Her chest rose and fell rapidly. Her mouth opened, trying to speak. Her eyes darted around the room, not knowing where to look. The sound of bare feet padding across the floor drew her attention and then he was upon her. His weight pressed down on her legs and she felt a hand slide up her stomach. The thin material of her nightgown shifted under invisible fingers as they moved over her breast. Suddenly they were at her throat, squeezing.
"J-Jack, please. Don't..."
"I'm not going to kill you, Flora." He laughed menacingly. "I need you."
Okay so normally non-con is not my thing. In this case however, that's how I see it playing out.
