Fun fact: Even though September is drawing to a close, there's still plenty of fun to be had before we're on the Hallowe'en countdown! Check out the events calendar for September to see if either of the theme days that are left tickle your fancy so you can be thinking about a prompt!
I can't say that I've had any sort of wild success on each, but it's certainly far more fun, and a good deal more rewarding, to write a dozen prompts I enjoyed writing, and only get one reply, than to write a dozen replies and only get one back.

Honestly, the trick, such as it is, is to just accept, up front, that you're probably not going to get any responses at all. So if you can have fun writing a prompt for its own sake, that's probably for the best.
