DPP is looking to add to our moderators! If you love this subreddit and want to help make it even better, this is your chance.

The process is pretty lightweight; there are a few simple questions listed below. We’ll collect applications for two weeks, review those applications, reach out to people, and add more mods when we are ready. Please be patient with the process and if you are not selected there could be a host of reasons – please know that we appreciate everyone who is willing to apply.

What are we looking for in a new mod?

The mod team is comprised of various personalities with diverse views, skills, and philosophies of DPP. We see this as an asset! If you are willing to help keep this community the great subreddit it is then we are looking for you. No mod experience necessary but must be willing to be collaborative, fair, and respectful.

Currently we are looking for two kinds of mods.

• Post Review and Rule Enforcer: This involves reviewing posts and comments to be sure that they are allowable under the rules as well as removing them if they violate the rules. This requires an objective nature. We are especially looking for mods to cover United States times zones and Australian time zones, but are open to mods from anywhere if we feel they’re qualified.

• Technical: Are you a confident coder? Do you know python? SQL? Filling this role might involve interacting/maintaining/improving automod, flair-bot, and our post review bot. Reddit likes to throw wrenches into the functioning of the bots so you’ve gotta be on your toes and calm under pressure. Occasional projects in sidebar maintenance may also occur.

Why are you looking for new mods, there are a lot of mods already?

We are looking for new mods for several reasons including a desire for skill redundancy, coverage of timezones, and to level out the work. This is a volunteer job and many of us have school, jobs, and lives. A strong, solid team enables one or many mods to step away from DPP as needed and know that things are a-ok. No stress y’all!

Are there any requirements?

Yup!

• You gotta have a gmail account for the sake of joining our team Slack channel. Most mod communication happens off platform.
• Have access to a laptop/desktop as many mod tools are lacking on mobile apps.
• Be collaborative.
• Be respectful.
  

I’m interested, what do I do?

Send a modmail answering the following questions:

1. What timezone are you in or rather what timezone times are you active?
2. What role do you see yourself filling in on the mod team? (Technical and/or Rule Enforcement)
3. What makes you qualified to be a mod in the area(s) you are interested? Please provide skills you have, list technical experience, or reasons for why you want to be a mod.
4. If you could make one change to the DPP rules, what would it be?
5. What have you enjoyed most about your time on DPP?
6. What have you enjoyed least about your time on DPP?
7. In the modqueue, you see a post that is looking for a boyfriend/girlfriend RP set in high school. What do you do? How do you react if someone (the poster or another mod) disagrees with your decision?
