“Give me your fucking money!”
I scan the room, looking for anyone stupid enough to make a move. Everyone just stands there, eyes wide, mouths hanging open, including the bartender.
“Money! Now!” I jab my gun at her, but she just stands there terrified. I give the room another quick glance, still nothing. Looks like I have to kick things up a notch.
I grab the nearest person, the woman who came in just before me. With my arm around her waist I pull her back against me. Maybe a hostage would speed things along. There at the end of the bar - orange ribbon. Bingo. As we make eye contact he reaches into his coat, but he is too slow. I drop him with two rounds to the chest.
All hell breaks loose. Half of the occupants of the bar hit the floor, the rest try to shove their way to an exit. The bartender, shocked out of shock, finally reaches for the cash drawer. I roll my eyes at her and pull my hostage with me as I back toward the door.
Shoving her into the backseat of the car and sliding in next to her I bang on the tinted glass separating us from the driver. The car peels out, swerving into traffic and pushing us back against the seats.
“Don’t worry,” I say, pulling off the ski mask. “We’re going to stop in a few blocks and let you out. We’re the good guys. That man that I shot worked for an organization that…” I trail off as I notice we are going the wrong direction. I pound on the glass. “Sam, what the hell?” Then I look at my new companion for the first time. The first thing I notice is the orange ribbon pinned to her shirt. The second is the gun pointed at my head.
