It's a long shot, and I hope this e-mail address works! It's been years since that week in Spain with you and Catherine. Remember her? She and I have kept in touch, and the subject of our adventures together came up in our last correspondence. She mentioned finding this email address in her notebooks, passed it on to me, and, well, hello. :)

I still smile when I think about you. If there was ever a long lost summer romance, I think we had it. So much has passed since then, working and living all over the world -- but that week in Spain, exploring Barcelona and Madrid, the clubs and the museums, the trains and hostels ... those memories are some of my most poignant.

It's been two days since Catherine gave me your email address, and I haven't been able to get you out of my mind. I stare at the ceiling at night, recalling your smile, your smooth skin, and your beautiful eyes. I remember the moment when our chemistry bubbled over -- that dinner when we caught each other's gaze while Catherine regaled us with her story about her awkward Greek lover.

I remember walking around the plaza for hours afterward, talking quietly, fingers intertwined, afraid to go back to our tiny shared guest room for fear of breaking the spell ... then you, slipping out of bed to join me on the floor that night, the slow fumbling of silent passion, trying not to wake our roommates. Afterwards, our bodies pressed together, exhausted and cooling in the night air, your fingers circling in my hair as your head lay on my chest, breathing softly, falling asleep in my arms.

Our trajectories have carried us far and away from those days in Spain. A lot of life has gone by, and I've always hoped our paths would cross again. I don't know what would happen, or could happen -- but I still hope.
