I hadn't been to the doctor's office in too long, but this new job meant I had to go in for a regular screening. It's been a while, so admittedly I could be wrong, but something seems a little off about this whole situation.
Now, I didn't think it was too unusual that I was asked to remove my clothes and change into a hospital gown, if a little unnecessary. I did feel a little exposed, especially considering that the nurse took my clothes to another room, somewhere. And I guess it's not that strange that the room I was ushered into has a table with stirrups on it. I know that they have OB/GYN doctors here, so maybe they just got left in the room.
But a lot of these tools that are laying around in the room seem to be just a bit... suggestive. It seems odd that there are restraints on the exam table. And are vibrators something doctors usually keep on shelves?
The new job mentioned that the medical screening they put together was custom tailored and non-optional, so I guess I don't have much of a choice. Still, I can't help but shake the feeling I've signed up for more than I know.
I thought I was walking into a simple check up, but as it turns out, new hospital policy states that all patients are required to undergo more... thorough testing than they previously had been. Making sure that everyone has a healthy sexual response is important, after all!
Also, I'm a big fan of the reddit instant messaging system, so if you haven't signed up to use it, go check the "beta options" box in preferences!
