The flat hadn't been rented out in some time; Nora could smell the dust hanging in the stale air. It was more spacious than she’d been expecting, but clearly needed a thorough cleaning. Most importantly the location and layout were simple. She was close to transportation and not likely to get lost. The neighborhood was relatively safe and Mrs. Hudson was an old family friend the made her feel welcome. Nora loved London, but it was a leap of faith to uproot herself and start anew in another country. Her great Aunt didn't live too far away and she’d been the one to mention that 221C Baker Street was within her budget.
It almost seemed too good to be true. “Now dear, it won’t be ready for a few days. I don't make a habit of cleaning up after tenants, but I also would dream of having you move into this mess before I at least chase out dust bunnies and put up some fresh wallpaper.” Mrs. Hudson was quite chatty and Nora was comfortable taking it all in and offering the occasional polite response when prompted. “Do you have furniture already?”
“No ma’am. I planned to order it once I had an idea of the space. Would you like to help me pick it out? Auntie Dina has been saving catalogs.” The plan was to have everything delivered and put together for her. She just needed to create a layout that worked for her. “I figured you might have an idea or two so I brought them in case you wanted to take a look.”
“That would be lovely! Good thinking. Why don't you come up for tea. Oh, before I forget I should see if the boys are here and introduce you. I’m fairly sure they're in today.” Mrs. Hudson took her arm and patted her encouragingly as they headed towards the stairs. “Brace yourself. They're good boys, but peculiar to say the least. Well, one more so than the other. If you stay long I’m sure you learn this isn't a boring place.” Her tone was wry; as if she had made a powerful understatement.
“Are they…rude?”
“Oh, no! Well, actually yes. Just the one. John Watson is very well mannered.” She trailed off as they ascended from the basement and headed up to flat 221B.
“And the other?” Nora prompted with an impish grin, pressing the older woman for details.
“Well, he is peculiar, but he’a a good boy. You’ll understand when you meet him. Or you can read John’s blog. He writes all about their work. Sherlock is a consulting detective and John helps him solve crimes.” Mrs. Hudson seemed hesitant before she continue, “I hope you won't take it personally if he does say something a bit rude. He can't help being himself, but don't let it scare you off.”
Nora was cautiously intrigued. “No worries. I’m looking forward to settling in.” They had stopped and Mrs. Hudson wrapped across the door.
“Boys, I have a guest,” the old woman called out before opening the door and heading right in with a familiarity that spoke volumes. Nora’s head was tilted towards the ground, she listened to the noises around her.
A building as old as this one was talkative. Some of the creaks and groans were muffled by carpeting, but Nora could hear the sounds of two people in a room with the telly turned on in the background. She stopped walking when Mrs. Hudson did and stood with both hands on her cane after the older woman let her arm go to introduce everyone.
“This is Mr. John Watson and Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Boys, this is Nora Foster. She’ll be moving into the basement flat soon.”
- Looking for a writer who likes 3rd perspective, paragraphs, and exploring character developments.
- Limits are: Vore, non-con, ageplay, toilet play and surrealism outside of drug use. While blind folds, a little BDSM, or roughness are fine I feel like this should be a fairly vanilla, but no less steamy.
- This is open for you to respond as John, Sherlock, or both as the romantic interest.
