Lepidus Africanus was a young man still by centurion standards and yet he had already fought and won glory for Rome on three continents. He had crippled a Carthegenian uprising in North Africa and earned his honorific title when he was 18. By twenty he had fought against vicious Parthian chariot archers in the east. And just recently, he had subjugated yet another germanic tribe in the north.
Lepidus was now in his mid-twenties and returning home to Rome. His soldiers would, of course, be left well outside the city. Some would settle down to become farmers, others would sign on for another tour, but all would look to Lepidus as their leader.
His family was, distant at best, but his uncle was being forced to leave the Senate due to his failing health. Without a male heir, Lepidus was being asked to take his place. It was a large role for a man so young, but Lepidus had stared down charging elephants and not turned away. A few squabbling nobles fighting for the favor of the emperor did little to frighten him.
Still, as Lepidus' procession crossed the Tiber and entered the streets of Rome proper, he couldn't help but feel nervous about what was to come.

I will play a young Roman general returning to Rome after a life fighting for the Empire. Who you are is for you to decide. A slave, either won or given to me as a gift? A noble woman, seeing a powerful man on the rise? Something else entirely? I'm open to play this as historically or fantastically as we like. Feel free to go mythological if you are feeling it.
Thank you for reading my prompt!
