There are many ways writing can take shape and life. Evoking emotions and imagery in your reader will draw them deeper into the words you weave together. Touch, Sight, Smell, Sound, Taste, each of them useful to draw upon as tools in your writer's arsenal. Todayâs theme is an exploration in the senses. Pick one, pick them all, choose to write what you feel or draw the imagery of a story that you and your penpal may continue together.
This theme will come with an offering of 5 separate flairs. Be sure to tag carefully or comments wisely and you can have the flair of your choosing.

The [Touch] of Ice
She was born a child of winter screaming into life in the dark of the night. Her cry rivaled the howl of winds that shook at the shutters and left mounds of snow pressed against the thin walls and wooden doors. The cold permeated into the simple cottage with icy fingers that crackled through the eaves and below the gaps of the doors. Tendrils of ice dripped from the ceiling and crept across the floor until they reached the birthing bed and left a mark upon the babe.
Morning brought the warmth of the sun as well as the clarity and light of a new day. All could see that the girl was touched. Beautiful, they said, but in a strange way with her pale blue skin, icy white hair, and clear blue eyes. She grew into a woman but didnât change. The kiss of blue remained on her lips and skin, her clear blue eyes never darkened but grew sharp as rumors developed that she could see into the souls of men. With age came the round curves of an hourglass figure that led to the valleys of a narrow waist and hills of her hips. She grew into a woman but she didnât stay. She left the cottage and the countryside drawn by a need that the vast meadows and farmyard animals could not meet.
It was heat that she sought and heat that she found first at an inn in the eyes of a man. Stepping inside The Hissing Acorn Inn she immediately felt the flame of the inn keeperâs eyes upon her. It was a blaze that shivered up her spine and left her gasping. She would have moved to him, sought more from him, but the inn keeperâs wife knew well the tales of the ice maiden form the dale nearby and shooed her away. With a taste of the heat she sought still tingling her skin she moved down the road.
Destiny soon brought her to the bed of a hunter, whose lithe body moved near even as she dropped her rough hewn dress to the floor. He flushed, she paled, but he touched her as he desired and his fingertips seared heat that rushed through her body and pooled in a tight coil deep within her. Tighter her need became as he kissed wetly and pawed roughly over her incinerated frame. When he entered her she became inflamed and yearned for the scorching need that burned for release within her.
She was thawed but not for long. She was filled but not enough. The heat faded and the cold returned as the lovers woke in the morning to the chill of a foggy dawn that was warmer than the air in the room. She didnât stay to see the hunterâs eyes open from a long sleep. She didnât stay as man after man warmed her for a time. Each of them left chilled and sick sleeping as she walked away. She sought more and it was more that destiny had in store for her as the son of summer walked his own path and left his own sweltering mark upon the ladies of the land. Closer they came and soon fate would bring them to kiss; heat to ice, cold to fire, man to woman.
