Hey DPP, it's your friendly neighborhood Blane. I'm going to go against the grain here and say I like Metas. Before you grab the torches and pitchforks, hear me out. Sure, it can be annoying to read the same problems over and over. Sure, they could have looked at previous Metas. Sure, most of the problems people have don't get solved. But as long as they aren't breaking the sub rules they have as much right to post as you do.

Oh Great, Someone Bitching About The Same Old Thing

Yeah, that happens. The lovely /u/octothorpesexy posted a Meta about Metas last month, yet here I am posting this one today. I'm willing to bet that some of the same people who saw that one will see this one, BUT a lot of people who didn't see that one will see this one. It will reach a different slice of the DPP population, getting a different view on the topic in return. I did my homework and read that Meta, but that doesn't mean I expect anyone else to do the same. If you have something to say you want to say it now, not research and sift through years of Metas first. Posting your thoughts on a subject or asking a question that has been bothering you is cathartic. You can't get that same release by reading old posts of a similar nature.

But Blane, It Gets Me So Worked Up!

It's just like any partner seeking post you don't like/hate/morally disapprove of. Don't read it. Click past it. Move along. If you don't have anything nice (or productive) to say, shut your damn mouth. Redirect your time and effort into writing something shamefully dirty or sweetly seductive.

I'm So Sick Of Writing The Same Comments To The Same Question

So don't bother. Take a break today, someone else will cover it. I know the feeling. You have a brilliant solution to the problem at hand, but you've said it so many times in the past two months that you can't be bothered to do it again. Don't worry. Life will go on without your sage advice.

Are You Saying We Shouldn't Disagree With Metas That Attack Men/Women/Etc.?

No. Disagree. Voice your opinion. But be respectful. And don't jump directly to, "well they should have looked at previous Metas/read the FAQ/gotten over themselves." And if it is truly attacking a group report it. The amazing moderation team will deal with it.
