I wake up slowly, consciousness returning as a steady pace. I yawn and try to curl back up to go back to my deep sleep but it seems my body says it is time to wake up. I enjoy my hibernation as much as the next but when the body says it is time to wake up you cannot really resist.
I eventually manage to get out of my soft bed and stretch, my muscles stiff from being asleep so long. I hear a commotion outside my home, heavy steps, music, loud noises. Looking at my calendar I realize what day it is and smile. Well they can wait, I muse to myself, it will be good for my adoring public to learn some restraint.
I amble into my little kitchen, thankful that the good house design has managed to keep my home warm despite the season. It's freezing outside but it 's nice and warm inside. I prepare a nice breakfast of roots and herbs, a little salad. I'll have to get more groceries soon, something fresher. Thankfully the visitors today usually bring some for me too. One of the few reasons I tolerate them and this silly tradition. Well that's a lie, I love the attention and it's only one day out of the year really. Not that much of a hardship.
I eat slowly as I go over my messages I have had piling up since I was asleep. Most were spam, inconsequential things. Though I did take my time reading a hilarious tale about my cousin feuding with a rather rude man. Apparently he and his family were living somewhere first and this man was trying to evict them from their rightful property. Thankfully he was rather inept and my cousin had the last laugh. He also described some silly game the people there play, involving sticks and an inedible egg. Where do people come up with such weird things?
Rising from my meal I decide I have made them wait long enough. I can hear their excited chatter and feel the festival air spreading to me. I take the time to groom myself carefully. I don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed after all. This is my day and I want to give an impeccable presentation. After getting ready I stop at the front door and put on my biggest smile. Showtime!
Something silly to help you smile. Have a wonderful day!
