There it is. A piece of candy. She came in this morning to find it sitting there, just at the edge of her desk, waiting for her. None of the other desks have candy on them, just hers. She sits and begins her work writing the day's tasks into her organizer and there sits the candy. She hasn't touched it yet; so still it taunts her, still it taunts him. She knows he watches and she knows he waits for her to take it.

It isn't the first little chocolate that he has left for her. There have been many before. In the beginning she did not take them at all, just left them there. Then one day she took one -- but didn't eat it. It sits beside her bed now with a few others in a bowl. But today's? Today's candy she will eat. And so it sits there, because today she knows.

The tease of the impending flavor makes her mouth water. How sweet it will be. Her pen waivers and stops. Her eyes scan the room till she finds him. Just as she suspected, he watches her. Around them is hustle and bustle and both of them are fully aware; of the people, of the moment, of her hand creeping to the edge of her desk.

Her fingers curl and grasp at the candy and his heart thump thumps with the implication found there. Awareness; of the crinkle of the wrapper as it slowly peals away from the delicate little square. Just one. Just a taste. Just a promise of more to come. A slight tremor shakes through her but her smile is steady as a deer. The candy passes her lips and presses to her tongue. Her eyes close. His are wide open in rapt attention. The candy on her tongue melts and so does she; eyes open and caught on his despite all the hustle and the bustle.

Tomorrow there will be another candy. Tomorrow there will be a hand to hold. And soon, soon there with be a press of sweet candy kiss to sweet candy lips.
