“What are you doing down there?!”

The loud voice interrupts my thoughts. Sunbathing naked in frigid water, I had been reliving the morning hike, the shady path around the lake, leaving the trail and trekking down the stream. The hidden waterfall I’d discovered after following the creek for some distance. The wide pool, sparkling in the noon sun, was irresistible. Sweating in the hot sun, I had decided I was far enough from the path and the camp and stripped down. The water was a shockingly cold break from the heat. Having nothing urgent for the day, I am settling in for the afternoon when the voice surprises me.

I twist in the water, looking around for the speaker. A slender figure stands above the waterfall, looking down at the pool and its naked occupant. I had guessed that no one would come climbing down the steep rocks to the secluded glen, particularly in the sweltering heat. But no, someone had come find me, and of course, it had to be a woman.

“I’m taking a bath,” I shout up at the intruder. I doubt you’ll hear anything over the noise of the water but surprisingly you laugh in response. To my chagrin you begin clambering down the rocks towards me. Quickly I swim towards the deepest section of the pool, despite my clothing being in the other direction. Up to my neck in the cold water, I realize that the depth provides little cover. Looking up I meet the eyes of the stranger, standing on the rocks just above me.
