Iceland's ring road. It is an 830 mile highway that loops around the entire country, with scenic views, waterfalls, glaciers and wildlife all sitting right beside it. It is my dream trip to rent a car and drive the entirety of the road, taking in everything I can in the week that it takes to truly appreciate the drive.

I had saved up for a few years after leaving college and finally had the money for this dream trip. Now I just needed to find someone to go with me.

Unfortunately, finding someone to do a week long road trip that would likely involve some camping along the side of the road and someone that could afford the trip was incredibly difficult. All of my friends said they wanted to go, but all dropped out one by one as they found out what was involved.

So I finally turned to Facebook. I posted that I needed someone to accompany me on the trip in six months. I got one bite, my aunt.

I didn't know her very well. She was my mom's younger sister and only about 10 years my senior, at 35. We had met a few times during holidays when I was younger but she had always lived on the opposite side of the country.

I had kinda wished to go with someone my own age, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized about what a great opportunity it would be to get to know someone from my family I barely knew.

I replied, letting her know I would be glad to have her along. In six months, the two of us would hit the open road on one of the most beautiful drives in the world.

Hello DPP! This trip is my actual dream trip, and one that I plan on doing one day. I love road trips, and the ring road looks to be one of the best in the world.
