A Long Time From Now, In a Galaxy Far, Far Away ...
My job for the next month is to watch the machine that periodically goes beep and flashes a green light. If it doesn't beep, or doesn't flash a green light, I follow instructions printed on the side of the machine until it goes beep and flashes a green light.
This is probably the dullest assignment I've had in the Space Corps, but to be honest, I'm feeling pretty grateful. The last assignment was supporting the migration of semi-sentient-and-very-angry burrow worms on a forgotten planet out on the edge of the spiral. They're an endangered species, so it was an important mission ... but half of my team got eaten. The Admiralty called it "migration support," but we were really just bait.
Anyway.
That was pretty awful, so I'm quite content to sit here for a couple of months and listen to the machine go beep. The machine has something to do with the preliminary terraforming of this planet ... but I can't say what, because apparently that information is above my pay grade.
Like I said. It's a pretty dull assignment.
My comm tablet chirps, and I read the incoming message.
To Alex: The project manager is en route, and
will be arriving tomorrow at 0800 at Complex A
for a preliminary inspection. Please be prepared.
I try to scroll for more information, but that's it.
Huh. Alright.
I set myself to organizing the work space and tidying up my sleeping pod, wondering who this new visitor will be. It's been a month, and I've been getting antsy for a little human contact.
Beep!
I'll assume you've picked up on the basics: you're the project manager coming down to see how everything's going, and everything turns out very well.
I'm looking for a partner who enjoys a little story telling, and enjoys being a little bossy (... and taking a little sass in return). My tastes are fairly vanilla, but if you're looking for something spicy I'm sure we can figure something out!
