James and Kathryn Thompson sat on a bench in the park. This was how they spent their Sunday mornings, how they had spent them for nearly sixty years. They held hands and watched the world. A lot had changed in that time. They had seen businesses come and go. Fashions changed. Cars changed. New inventions changed how people lived.

They had changed too. They certainly weren't as young as they used to be. Their hair had greyed, then become white. The cane he needed to help him walk leaned against the bench. Knobby knuckles and wrinkled skin rubbed together when he squeezed her hand. Their bodies had weakened, but one thing had only grown stronger. Time and age didn't weaken love.

He watched as a strange car drove by. His eyes followed it, his mind working, trying to pull up an old memory. It drove past the old courthouse and down a side street out of sight. He hadn't seen a DeLorean in...

That reminded him of something.

"Do you remember our first kiss?" he asked looking into her eyes. Though they had both aged, her eyes were still as young as ever. He could stare into them all day.

"Like it was yesterday," she smiled, leaning closer to kiss him. There were still sparks, even now.

November 12, 1955

Hill Valley, California

10:03 p.m.

James Thompson and Kathryn Wilks sat on a park bench. So far, their first date had been... interesting. They had been enjoying themselves at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. But Dean Strickland had shut things down after that strange young man had played the raucous music and broken the band's speakers.

So they found themselves here, sitting on a bench in Courthouse Park, holding hands and talking. The clouds above threatened to open up at any moment, but neither one of them wanted to go home yet, preferring instead to enjoy each other's company as long as possible.

James looked into her eyes, thinking to himself that he could gaze into those eyes forever. Leaning closer, he took a chance and pressed his lips to hers. Thankfully, she kissed him back. Suddenly there was a flash of light so bright they saw it with their eyes closed, followed by an immediate crack of thunder that made them both jump.

They both turned and saw sparks falling from the roof of the courthouse. A high pitched whining drew their attention to the street where a strange car went speeding by, accompanied by another flash of light. James and Kathryn looked at each other, confused, blinking away the spots in their vision.

Before either one could say anything the rain started to fall. James quickly removed his coat and held it over Kathryn's head as they hurried across the street to an all night diner.

This would certainly be a night they'd never forget.
