When we named Mars after a god of war, we had no idea how prophetic that would be.
It was 1974 when the Martians first attacked. Brought on by our trip to the moon, they realized the apes they had observed not so long ago would soon be able to compete for the resources of the universe. The far older civilization decided it would be better to wipe us out while we were still "primitive" and wouldn't be able to properly put up a fight.
They were not prepared for what they found.
Sure, they got the jump on us. But Earth has always had more competition than Mars when it comes to survival. While they had centuries on us to advance their technology to points we still donβt fully understand, humans had tenacity. We took their technology, studied it, learned from it, and finally adapted it. And when we finally pointed it back on them, we swiftly turned the tide of the war. But it was decided beating them back to Mars wasn't enough. That was too close to be safe.
When we unleashed the better version of our new weapons we had to do it from space, for fear it would ruin our atmosphere. We used their technology, now our technology, to roast the surface of Mars.
Now we're poised to spread throughout the solar system. Their ships, their weapons, their machines for resource collection, all are available to us. We only have one thing left to take before we begin; the remains of their planet. It's only been five years since we decimated its surface though, so it was decided we would send only two people at first. A man and a woman, brilliant and beautiful, selected to be our--with tongues firmly in our cheeks--Martian Adam and Eve.
A month ago they launched from Earth (space is still vast and even with our technology it takes time to get places). We gave them everything they could need to establish the beginnings of a colony on Mars; supplies for buildings, food, terraforming technology, even minor weapons, just in case. We watched as their ship descended to the rocky Martian surface, as they opened the doors to the Red Planet that had sent an assault on us not so long ago. Two of our own, finally stepping out as conquerors of another world.
We were not prepared for what they found.
Hey everyone! Just a quick prompt for Pulp Day! I love this sort of literary faffery so of course I had to jump on board. ~Participation!~
I am open to just about anything for this prompt. Vanilla, kink, aliens, no aliens. I'll play the man, the woman, some alien, whatever, so long as it sounds fun and it gets my attention. I was vague on a lot of things on purpose, so we can shape this alternate history together!
My hard limits for this one are kids, non-sentient animals, bathroom-related kinks, and incest.
I am a glacial and mercurial responder. DPP is my Happy Fun Writey Times, so if I don't feel like writing something, I don't until I do again. You have been warned! You can learn more about me (including the kinks I'm into) at my DPP profile.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to the orangereds!
