I know that we are upside down
So hold your tongue and hear me out
I know that we were made to break
so what? I don't mind
You kill the lights, I'll draw the blinds
Don't dull the sparkle in your eyes
I know that we were made to break
so what? I don't mind
Are you gonna stay the night
Oh oh oh oh, are you gonna stay the night
Even as I sing along to the song on the radio, I'm thinking of you. Because there's just something about this song that describes us so well. We just don't work, you and I, even though we've tried again and again. Every time we try we have our moments, but it always ends up with us saying bye the next morning, and then not talking for a while.
But god, there's just something about those nights that make me think about you when I'm lonely. Sometimes, I think we could make it work, even for all of our flaws. Those times when you're besides me, nestled up in my arms, that I think we've really got a shot.
I find my hand reaching for my phone, as if it's doing it of its own volition. There's this little voice saying to put the phone down, that she's not worth it. But that voice is pushed aside, drowned out as I type a message to you, the simple one that I always do.
"Hey. Want to come over?"
Hey everyone! So this is a little prompt inspired by a song. My general idea is that we've given this a shot before, but it hasn't quite worked out. Maybe we were dating and then broke up, or maybe we were just friends who tried something more serious and it just didn't go as well as we hoped. But either way, we just keep coming back to each other. After all, who knows? Maybe this time it will work.
So I can see this going a few ways. Maybe a romantic angle, with lots of flirting and talking and heart to hearts before we get to the sexy stuff. There was some issue keeping us apart, maybe we were both too stubborn, or too young, or just too stupid to see what we had.
Or maybe we hate each other. But god do you look good in my bed. When we get together words are exchanged, but somehow we always end up under the sheets, doing things that keep the neighbors up. And then in the morning we realize that we hate each other again and don't promise not to speak to each other again. It's funny how we never seem to keep that promise.
Feel free to create some backstory to your character, or to our fictional relationship. Mix and match the ideas above, after all what we have is complex, not something you can define in just a few sentences. You can dive right in with how you feel when you get my text, or you can message me back with your questions and concerns. Either way, I look forward to writing and playing with you. :)
