(Damn, can't change the title: M4F, please!)
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we have no place to go ...
There's nothing quite like getting stuck in a remote ski cabin with an attractive stranger, hmm?
I saw the storm coming up fast as I traversed the ridge. This wasn't supposed to blow in until tomorrow evening, but that's the chance you take this time of the year. Thank goodness I have a clue about this kind of thing -- I packed well for my overnight trek, carrying food, an avalanche beacon, a bivy sack, chemical heaters, my burner and fuel, etc. It's going to be an ugly night, but I'm feeling pretty confident as I pull out my map and start looking for a place to shelter.
About a mile off there's a hut marked. These things are always a little dodgy, but it beats the heck out of weathering a storm in a bivy or snow cave -- so I set out with a determined smile on my face, squinting in the increasing wind.
The hut turns out to be nicer than expected. Some creative (and probably masochistic) Forest Service volunteers built it in a style that vaguely resembles a little Swiss chalet if you squint at it right.
There's no smoke in the chimney, but I knock on the door out of habit before walking in. It's tidy and small -- about enough room to sleep three people on the open floor, with a table and benches against one wall, and a stocked wood stove against the other. A gas lamp hangs from the center of the peaked roof -- no fuel, but that's one of the reasons I carry a spare can.
This will do nicely!
After a few minutes of arranging my gear I get the wood stove roaring and pull up a bench. I open my book and a pack of beef jerky, and hunker down for a long night as the wind buffets the hut.
But, just as I'm getting into the story, there's a solid knock -- I look up as you push the door open with a whoosh of cold air and powdery snow ...
My tastes are pretty vanilla -- I like to keep it positive, playful, and relaxed. You're welcome to check out my DPP Profile if you'd like to learn more about me and what I'm into:

If you're the kind of woman who enjoys a literate partner, a slow, descriptive build, and the idea of a long night in a cozy ski hut ... send me a PM. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
