Kara Danvers sat studiously taking notes and listening to her friend and colleague Lena Luthor explain. “So, word is there’s a frat that have been hassling women - students and even lecturers - on the campus of National City College. Look, I don’t think this is front page material but I’d like you to go check it out. Some of the students in the frat, they’re rich jocks and they have powerful parents. Someone is keeping things quiet.”

Kara left the office and made plans. Usually she might check the place out as her alter ego Supergirl, but this required a lighter touch. Plus, it would give her the chance to go back to her old College. She dropped an email to her old professor and asked how they would feel about having Kara back to do a guest lecture. After all she was an award winning journalist now. She received an enthusiastic response, asking if she would like to come guest lecture and even teach for the semester. She’d even be able to fit it around her job at CatCo. Kara smiled - she was going back to college.

Days later, as she walked into the same lecture hall she had spent several years studiously listening in, she couldn’t help but notice a group of students - mainly a few big guys who looked like jocks, but with a couple of women with them - laughing and making jokes. Her super hearing picked up that they were laughing about her and what she was wearing. She’d purposely worn a smart, but conservative outfit. Whilst having to listen to their cruel remarks, she picked up that they were members of a frat. Were they who she was looking for? She resisted the urge to point out they were all in their final year and should know better.

She began her speech, explaining how she had done well at college(“Highest marks in the class”) and how she had turned that into a successful career (“Award winning!”). Still the little group made comments and laughed. Kara realised she sounded a little pompous.

Then suddenly something strange happened, Kara felt a weird wave of weakness as she was explaining one of her biggest stories. “- the opportunity to interview Supergirl was special, she’s such an in-inspiration-“ Kara stopped, one hand went to her head the other grabbed the lectern to stop from falling over. Her legs seemed to buckle. Nausea hit her. It was an unmistakable feeling - kryptonite!

The laughing from the group stopped, for a moment it was like they were studying her. An assistant walked onto the stage and up Kara, quietly asking “Kara, are you ok?” Kara looked up, her brow sweaty, her shirt slowly staining with sweat and her legs feeling like they could collapse at any moment. And then - it was over. The wave of weakness disappeared, leaving Kara to finish her speech and quickly get out of there.

Afterwards, she sat soaking in the sun. This hadn’t gone as planned, the whole experience was humbling. But, if someone had access to kryptonite, well she would need to spend some time and find out what was going on.

Across the campus, the jocks discussed graduation plans and then the topic switched to Miss Danvers reaction in the lecture hall. Someone had recorded it on their phone. One of the frat smiled. “You know, my father gave me this as a bit of a novelty.” He pulled out a small green rock. “Said he’d picked it up from buying out an old lab.” He played with it absentmindedly, as he had done in the lecture theatre. “But guys, I think we’ve hit the jackpot here. I think this is like that rock I saw on the news…” They watched Kara stumble and lose track of her speech on a loop. They realised exactly who she was and what they had.

So, this is an idea I’ve had and I hope I catch your eye with it. I’d be looking to roleplay this and try and get a healthy mix of smut and story. Happy to discuss how we do that with you. Looking for someone happy to discuss things beforehand and a generally chill writing partner!
