Visions of the loss plagued you, even 20 years later. You would wake up with a cold sweat after replaying the loss in your head, tormenting yourself with what ifs because you remembered every single detail.

Your party stood before The Mad Chronomancer, a man so consumed with the loss of his wife that he was determined to undo time itself and save her. He was the most powerful chronomancer known to man, able to distort the flow of it around himself and go back in increments of up to 10 seconds. Spells, knives, and arrows all failed against him since he could simply stop them in time and render them useless, yet you could not get close since he would distort time and slow you so that you could not land a blow on him. At the summit of Mount Creation the chronomancer intended to open a link to the Sands of Time and draw upon their power to travel back years to save his wife, but doing so would destroy several timelines and cause untold changes to the one you were all fighting to protect.

But your lover had an idea.

You and him were the closest in the party, haven fallen in love over the course of your journey. He had recently started his journey as a clergyman, but was disturbed by the corruption of the church and their lack of action taken against the Chronomancer. His knowledge of sacred healing and protection magic allowed him to cast a powerful, but short barrier spell that would grant the target immunity to the effects of other casters' spells, but only for a few seconds at best. He would cast the spell on himself and push the Chronomancer into the Sands of Time, severing his link to this timeline and preventing him controlling trace amounts of the Time Continuum by overwhelming him within the full power of the sands, which would only bend to Father Time himself.

The plan did not play out as intended.

The Mad Chronomancer was able to grasp at the edge of his portal, forcing your lover to tackle him inside, stopping the Mad Chronomancer but sacrificing himself to an eternity within the sands himself. You waited for 20 years for him before beginning finally deciding to move on, believing that despite his determination and knowledge not even he could navigate the Sands of Time.

Until that faithful day.

You woke up gasping after the loss replayed itself in your mind one cold winter night, but heard a frantic pounding at your door. You armed yourself and then answered the door, weapon raised but soon dropped as you saw a sight you had given up on wishing for.

He was back.

Covered in blood and panting for air, but back. He had not aged at all in his time spent in the Sands of Time, but he had fought many battles. He spent every moment of his 20 years separated from you fighting, so when he saw your face he smiled, then collapsed in your arms.

Hey there! I'm looking for someone to play out a cute fantasy role play where our characters were separated for 20 years after mine sacrificed himself to save their world. While gone, my character stood outside of time and had to endure Father Time's many trials in order to reach his timeline again. To reach you.

How your character has faired in the time mine was gone is up to you. He could have spent it all alone and isolated, could have gone on many great journeys and even spent the time eliminating the Mad Chronomancer's followers. He may have even moved on romantically.

The role play will be more wholesome and even a bit slice-of-life like with the characters getting used to being in each other's lives once more, but we can also have an overarching plot with a threat looming over their heads that they must face together.
