Kyoto is the imperial capital of Japan, and the Buddhist adept Nichiren, a radical thinker who has frankly gained more enemies than allies, is about to be exiled. He is on his way to preach in a bustling centre of commerce, and the locals look on at him knowingly. Carts of vegetables led by weary mules drive past, and the earthen roads are lined with market stalls. Women wearing headscarves verbally whip their children into heading inside as Nichiren approaches a spot of free ground outside a house used for crockery storage, the ground occupied by just a lumpy, dull rock he stands atop to deliver his sermons.

“Here comes the monk…” Wisened old beggars say, grinning in anticipation of the coming entertainment. Shrouded in tattered old clothes, the oblate wears a straw hat the shape of an umbrella atop his head. Going hither and thither, greeting the townsmen (many who scowl at him), the hat presses down as the wind delivers prolonged blows atop him.

Around his long robe is a rope belt that has been patched and repatched, and around his neck is a long string of cerulean and amber prayer beads, a smaller one held aloft on his left arm. Gripped by his right hand is a bamboo staff carved with twelve dragon heads, and six round rings of bronze, silver and gold hang from it. These rings swing back and forth, clanging to announce his arrival.

“Here he comes ambling down, chanting that prayer…” Frustratedly complains a gruff man clenching his fists. Nichiren reaches the sacred boulder, all eyes on him, and leaps upon it, turning towards the massing crowds. Short, scruffy brown hair is revealed as he removes his hat, highly uncharacteristic of normal monks. His widely grinning face is youthful and manly, the determined eyes of a hunter mark his face. Tall for a peasant and lightly muscled, he does not have the look of a monk, and the young girls discuss this whilst profusely giggling.

“We take refuge in Amitabha Buddha this day: I hereby spread the blessings from above to the three corners of this city! Long live his majesty the Emperor, and the Empress, and the Crown Prince!” He began, yelling at the very top of his voice to the crowd, flailing his arms outward. Already shouts of dismay are heard, yet this fuelled him further.

“May the quarrelers in the crowd be condemned, for it is THEY who curse this country and seek to discourage the realisation of Buddha’s law!” He proclaimed, thrusting his staff forward, the rings clanging like a set of castle keys. Such accusations were met with louder outrage and Nichiren smiled. He did believe what he said, but a part of him did this for the fun of it too.

“In the woods I met a vicious wolf whose bloodlust near drove him to make me his dinner. But I sensed the devils within him, and I drove them out with my chant! He now lives as a hermit in his cave, having given up meat, chanting the Lotus Sutra and farming rice-”

“Wolves giving up meat? Chanting a sutra? Be gone, HERETIC!” Screechingly proclaimed a passing monk of a local monastery, his head shiny and bald. A little stone suddenly struck Nichiren in the chest, another narrowly passing by his face, followed by the pelting of little ceramics, cups of scolding tea, and even a little rodent.

“Anyone disbelieving in the Lotus Sutra is the heretic here, and I value a heretic’s words even less than a fart in the wind.” Nichiren slyly retorted in return, his presumed followup suddenly interrupted by a firm hand gripping both of his wrists. Two stern samurai dragged him down from the rock and tugged the man across the floor, dirtying even further his attire until they had reached the city gates.

“This is the merciful option, monk.” Muttered one of them, that last word enunciated like a curse.

“Our priests have for a long time thought it fit we execute you for such regular insolence. It’d be a shame, you are very entertaining after all. Anyways, in accordance with ritsuryō, we sentence you to exile. Leave or your head may be on a stick after all!” Laughed the samurai as Nichiren grasped for his staff and went on his way into the wilderness.

“Be thankful you made it out alive!” Guffawed Amu the wolf, sipping his tea as Nichiren agonised over the calamity last week.

“It’s funny they didn’t think it true a mere wolf could accept the Buddha’s teachings…”

“Townish folk don’t happen upon talking wolves too often. Normally I’d hardly blame them, but most people have such little imagination… they can’t think past their own coffers these days.” Nichiren’s head rested on his arm, vertically supporting his chin with his palm. Amu walking upright stood only a bit taller than half Nichiren’s height, and silently the monk couldn’t help but find slight hilarity in the sight, though he’d never say such a thing.

“I’ll be off now. I’m thinking of trying my luck in the wilderness near here. I can always count on your rice if I end up starving…” Nichiren stood and stretched his legs, preparing for an exit.

“B-But a word of warning, my saviour,” Began Amu,

“At night when I am restless and check my crops, in the distance within the trees I see a fox… as beautiful as she is petrifying. If you see her and are drawn in but one step, who knows what could happen-”

“Amu, you are a wolf. Our tastes in women differ more greatly than our heights. I count being misled into lust by some woodland animal as much of an impossibility as the Lotus Sutra being false.”

“And to you that is beyond an impossibility!”

“Truly.”

“Just… well, be careful. You know the stories of foxes turning into women and steering the noblest of men from the Dao.”

“If I can reason with a beast like you, I think I can reason with a woman just fine-”

“What about a woman who is indeed a beast?” Amu inquired.

At that warning, Nichiren looked back and had no answer. Peering to the ground, he then smiled.

“If a kitsune should come across me, I will teach her the righteous path, as I have done with you.” Issuing a little nod as a goodbye, he left without another word, and Amu shook his head knowingly.

“Namu Myō Hō Renge Kyō…” Quietly whispered Nichiren, sat atop a little patch of dry earth in the middle of a forest. Many little hills and tors accentuated the bottom of this heavily wooded valley, the greenery covering most of the ground, a thick tropical canopy hanging above too. Having stripped down to just a light cloth robe with nothing else, the heat accumulated from marching in this jungle was only beginning now to dissipate. From a flat piece of ground in this otherwise vertically distorted valley he made his prayer, clasping his hands and repeating his Lotus Sutra.

“Namu Myō Hō Renge Kyō…” Again he muttered, only, this time he felt eyes on him. Glancing forward, he could see some way in front of him, clinging close by a tree, a slim and womanly figure peering out. Wearing dull rags fit more for a peasant farmer’s Wife than a graceful woodland spirit, her poor attire did nothing to harm the ethereal beauty of the woman. Her eyes were on him and she smiled cheekily. But atop her head were the distinct ears of a fox, and shifting surreptitiously at her feet was a long, fluffy tail. As if seeking to escape his chest, Nichiren’s heart pounded, and sweat trickled down his forehead. Rapturing, bestial, womanly… for the first time in his life, Nichiren felt quite out of his depth.

Hello! Excuse the abnormally long introduction. Hopefully you got a vague idea about the plot I’m hoping to plan and write with someone today, but some of it is not exactly described in the extract, which was written from the perspective of the character I’ll be playing: Nichiren. Astute scholars and Wikipedia warriors among you may know he was a very real monk who founded a sect of Japanese Buddhism, but in his lifetime he was a deeply unpopular figure who propagated a rather radical new idea: that of, the simple repetition of the words ‘Namu Myō Hō Renge Kyō’ as the way to achieve enlightenment. Nothing more, nothing less. He was avid about this phrase and thought it condensed all of the Buddha’s teachings into a single breath. He was promptly exiled for being an annoying little freak of a monk.

Our setting is a historical Japan (I’m no expert so don’t worry if you aren’t either, the time period here is the 1200’s but I’m no stickler for hyper-specific period features) wherein mythical creatures from the native Shintō faith are very much real. Talking wolves like Amu, demonic oni, spirits both good of heart and malevolent, kami who may keep to themselves or instead pray to Buddha, and of course, the aforementioned kitsune. In Japanese that word literally just means ‘fox’ but we can use that here to distinguish supernatural vulpine beings from our regular orange fluffy friends. My image for a kitsune is a spirit who can transform between a fox and a woman at will. Often with magical powers like ‘foxfire’, a blue flame used to illuminate surroundings, I imagine the human variants as having fox ears and a tail, with the personality of a fox too, whether that’s sly, mischievous, cunning, all of that. Alternatively, instead of a human form she could have a humanoid fox form, like an anthropomorphic animal, but if you aren’t comfortable with that we don’t need to do as such.

Now, one thing that wasn’t mentioned in the extract is that you are not just a kitsune, but you are also a jama: a demon sent to lead Buddhist monks astray from enlightenment. Your goal here is to force me into sin, via romance and sex. Demons like you loathe the Buddha for any number of reasons. Perhaps you were a terrible person in your past life and have been condemned to samsara (the mortal world) for eternity, and seek to mislead devout Buddhists out of spite. Or you were once faithful but couldn’t become enlightened and now have turned to evil, or perhaps you simply hate the Buddha instinctually as he looks down on your kind. Maybe you’re instead a succubus of sorts (not that the term exists in Japan but kitsune sometimes occupy a similar standing in folklore) who loves sex and takes pleasure in corrupting the most devout of men for fun. You’ve laid with hundreds of monks throughout the years who thought they’d secured a life with this dangerously sexy kitsune, only for you to have moved on to another victim, and for the monk to have earned Buddha’s wrath in a moment of lusty misjudgement.

Just a note, but I’d be fine with you being any other animal-spirit: you can be an inugami (dog spirit), nekomata (cat spirit) or any other sort of bestial women. Now, my intention here is that our characters become travelling companions. Whether that’s my trying to teach you the Buddha’s way even though you openly want to misguide me, or you pester me as I try to live a hermit’s life, we will be largely alone together for a long time. Our romance will blossom and we will have to deal with our own conflicting feelings: Nichiren resisting your charm, and you resisting the feeling that this isn’t just another monk you want to fuck, but a lover. Where this will end is up for us to decide. Will you lead me from the righteous path into sin, with me becoming a demon, and us living and fucking in one of the Buddhist Hells together forever? Or perhaps you see the truth of the Buddha’s teachings with my help, and we marry, now free to be as explorative with each other’s bodies as we like? We can discuss these later.

Sexually I’m rather vanilla but here are the obligatory kinks and limits.

Kinks: vaginal, anal, oral, creampies, breastplay, cumplay, sloppy sex, loud sex, interspecies, size difference, moaning, dirty talk, hair, sweat.

Limits: scat, gore, vore, blood, piss.

My timezone is GMT 0 and although I’m rather free for about the next month, after that my responses may be a bit more delayed, yet I’ll be able to message you, my prospective roleplay partner, at least once a day, whether that’s with a post or just an update on how busy I am. I do like making friends with my partner outside the roleplay so don’t be afraid to be talkative. I roleplay overwhelmingly on Discord so it’s highly preferable we communicate on there. If you're interested, please make a reasonably detailed introductory message with what you liked about the story, and some of your own ideas.

Hope you’ve all had a happy new year, and I’ll be anticipating some messages soon. Thanks for reading!
