Sample Starter

Lightning clawed across the windows. For just a second, Sky's silhouette flashed against the tiles. A second of silence, roaring thunder - the pool's surface no longer a mirror. Far above most other buildings, there was little to dampen these shockwaves. Sky didn't mind. One reason she left her apartment at this hour was to watch the storm from within these startled depths.
The young woman wasn't quite dressed for the occasion: She'd leave soon and head down to the residents' gym fifteen stories below. White cotton hid her slender frame, the material flashing up with the rhythm of the storm.

Sky was alone here, lost in thoughts and dreams of what this city could mean to her. She'd moved into the tower just a few days ago - everyone had. A new residential project, too expensive for most people her age. A college kid certainly couldn't afford it. A college dropout shouldn't be able to either. Yet here she was, with money she didn't deserve, the inheritance from a relative she hadn't ever met. Her father had, apparently, been filthy rich. Good to know - he had likely been left with a lot of time after abandoning his family. Not that much time, of course, given his well-deserved death.
Now here she was, a 20-year-old without any reason to do anything but what she really wanted to. But what did she want to do? Sky didn't know - and she did not have to yet. She had all the time in the world. Right now, she wanted to watch the thunderstorm, she wanted to dream about this city... and she wanted to know who that stranger was, the silhouette walking down the corridor toward the pool. Another tenant, so much was certain. Did they own a penthouse like her? Were they from one of the nicer apartments just below here? A duplex further down? Maybe someone from the dorms on the lowest floors?
Or it was a janitor, not too unreasonable at this time of day.

Plot

Two strangers, tenants of a new high-rise in a metropolitan area, meet at their indoor pool during a nightly Thunderstorm. Will they stay at the pool? Leave for one of their apartments? Let's find out.
