One of the blatantly sexist double standards alive and well in modern Britain (and much of the west) is the expectation that women remain mostly or completely hairless below the neck. Meanwhile, the standards for men outside of porn are significantly more... relaxed. Natural pubic hair on a woman is even considered a fetish within porn, so normalised is it for pussy to be devoid of hair.

I have to admit, I love this double standard. I loved the fact that my first girlfriend in college was always waxed, but preferred her men 'more natural'. I love that a more recent girlfriend was going through her second round of laser but found a similarly strict standard for men 'creepy' and would make my junk 'look like a bald chicken'. I was a swimmer in college and even the swimsuits the girls had to wear seemed to be cut in such a way as to prevent the possibility of anything resembling natural from being sported. I was especially intrigued and excited to learn (during a wine-fueled truth-or-dare) that this rather innocent-seeming Christian half-Asian I knew had been getting full brazilian waxes every four weeks since she turned 18.

I'm looking for a conversation on the topic of these sexist double standards and will enjoy sharing my own experiences of them with lovers from my past. I'd love to hear from you if this is something you've ever thought about, and especially if you have submitted to the will of a lover in this regard or any other like it. Maybe trimming wasn't enough and he insisted on a shave, perhaps shaving didn't get you smooth enough and he wanted you waxed, or maybe he told you that there would be no salons available on your trek across the Andes and so you'd have to get lasered before your trip together (ok, that one is maybe a bit far-fetched).
