Every story has to begin somewhere, and for the purposes of this one, it starts here, when you find your way to a strange basement bookstore, Caveat Emptor, that you just happened to be passing. You're pretty sure that it wasn't there last week - both the stairs down to the basement and the store itself, but you could never turn down a good bookstore.

The shop was wall to wall books on just about every topic imaginable. Some invisible hand seemed to push you toward the comic book section. It guided your fingers along the glossy covers of dozens then hundreds of graphic novels. One of the titles quite literally jumped off the shelf into your hands. Wonder Woman: Epwtikn. The iconic heroine with her raven hair and lightly tanned skin stood front and center on the cover, which was divided into red and blue.

On the blue side, Diana was dressed in a daring white dress. The white fabric started behind her neck and criss crossed her body, leaving her abdomen exposed. The slit in the skirt was nearly just as deep, as it left her entire leg naked, revealing years of demanding, Amazonian training. Her hair was curled and styled intricately in a way that must have taken hours. Her hand is held outstretched, as if inviting the reader in.

The red side was Wonder Woman, dressed in her traditional warrior armor - the golden wings of an eagle forming a breastplate to protect her chest and the double W forming the zoster. The blue pteruges hung from her waist with white stars at the end of each leather strap. A red corset covered the space between, leaving her shoulder naked. A blonde man in a tattered soldier's uniform clung to her leg, looking up at the warrior with a desperate plea for help. A golden tiara is covered by her wavy hair, which fell freely behind her shoulder.

The back cover read: A fresh, exiting look at the origin story from DC's Ultrablack Label of their greatest heroine, Wonder Woman.

Diana, Princess of Themyscira, lives an idyllic life on Paradise Island, far away from the trouble of Man's World. That was before American pilot, Steve Trevor, crashed a spy plane in the sea outside her mother's queendom. The outside world brings new and exciting possibilities for the Amazons.
