He was never supposed to be the King.
But even the best plans fail, by bad luck alone. Bad luck that killed his brother two weeks before his father died, and raised him to the Throne. He had been away on campaign, leading a punitive expedition into a southern Duchy. When he returned back to the capital, he wasn't welcomed as a victorious general, but the new king. A position he wasn't ever supposed to take. Neither was he educated in the ways of the Court, nor was he seen as fit to rule the kingdom. A wild child in his youth, a boy who'd rather sleep outside by a fire with the soldiers than dance with a nobleman's daughter - and this hadn't changed in the last twenty years. He had been a valiant general, leading the kingdom's troops both inside and beyond the borders of his ancestral land, but a good warrior does not necessarily make a good king.
Instead of a triumphant march through the city towards his father, the townspeople of the capital lined the streets silently. Normally he wouldn't be able to hear his own thoughts, but through the silence he could hear the cobblestone streets echo with the sound of his horse's hooves; if someone were to drop a needle, he was sure that he could pin point it from twenty yards away.
"Your Royal Highness, I am deeply dismayed that you had to find out this way. We sent couriers after you, but I am afraid they did not find you before you found your way to the capital," the Grand Duke of the Upper Marne half-whispered after he dismounted in front of the castle gates, welcomed by some of the mightiest people in the kingdom: six of the ten High Lords of the Council, his mother and her ladies-in-waiting, the High Priest, and the commissioner of the city's guilds.
They followed him inside, and each of them had their own information for the soon-to-be king. But the most crucial information came from the High Lord Chamberlain: "Your Royal Highness, I've been working day and night to solidify your position as the new king. There are certain... elements in the kingdom who don't see you fit to rule, and want you removed; or so I've been told." She held her head low, standing at nearly six feet, an imposing picture of a woman. Old but wise, an astute negotiator and careful planner in service of the King. "I've been concentrating on the core duchies of the kingdom, and I think I've found an alliance that would suit you just right, Sir."
The dame smiled, before she lead him to his chambers, which would be his until his coronation. All had to be in order, after all. A large square, three feet by one and a half, concealed by red satin, was waiting for him.
"Well, have a look for yourself. I think she will be to your taste, your Royal Highness. She might be a bit young, but the Lady Alderbrook is a smart girl, educated at court, and her father promised to send his retinue and levy if anyone were to make a move on the throne."
The portrait was excellently painted, showing a young woman with grey eyes, captured in a moment of quiet contemplation, a slight smile playing on her lips. Flowing locks of golden hair cascade down her delicate face, framing it perfectly. A masterpiece, both the girl and the painting.
"It's a good match, Sir. Even if she's a bit... well, below your position, no neighboring ruler has a daughter old enough for marriage. But for now, I'll leave you to your thoughts, Sir." She dropped a curtsy, before leaving the room and closing the door behind herself.

Hello everyone!
As you can see, I'm looking for a medieval-inspired fantasy RP today.
In this, I'd love to portray the young Lady Alderbrook, though I'm also open to portraying the king, as I like to challenge myself; and writing a man isn't something I've done that much, but I think I could pull it off.
I am looking to find a partner who is interested in soft worldbuilding whenever is needed, and who'll portray a character with depths, faults, and even room to grow. One thing, though: I'm not interested in a submissive king. I'm fine with her being somewhat of a switch, but there's a view to uphold, after all, and I'm more interested in him being a bit rough around the edges instead of being a softie. No power doms either, though.
While I would love to talk about our characters a little before we start, I'd rather not plan through everything, as that takes a lot of the fun out of any RP for me. Some background is fine, but if everything is explored already we might as well just write biographies for those two characters instead of playing a fun game!
Lastly, what about kinks?
Well, I'm into age gaps, fellatio, clothed sex, and a somewhat realistic approach to the situation.
My limits are incest, fisting, bodymodding, and scat.
I'm looking forward to your messages!
