For me to attend a work conference was not an uncommon occurrence in our house. A few times a year I would leave on a Sunday and be gone for a few days to attend and then fly back. This one was no different, I grabbed my bags and drove myself to the airport. I get checked in at the hotel the day before the conference and have a quiet night in the room making sure to get rested up for the next day.

The conference begins the next day uneventfully. Shaking hands with many people, casual smiles, and chats. It was a backed conference room, very few if any seats remained. In front of me was the last seat as you come strolling in right before it’s about to be begin. I glance once catching someone out of the corner of my eye as you make your way down the row to the empty seat, but not paying much attention. As you approach, the seat in front of me I glance again, this time taking you all in. Your tight fitting skirt, loose buttoned up shirt without a thought I quickly glimpse between the buttons to see if you’re wearing a shirt underneath. ‘Stop’ I tell myself. I’ve always been behaved at these things, don’t be like that. As you’re taking your seat you glance back at me and lock eyes, giving me a sly, possibly mischievous, smile. I return the smile and turn my attention to the speaker at the front.

After the days events I go up to the room and change clothes, freshen up and head down to the hotel bar. I find a seat at the bar no one on either side of me and order my bourbon on the rocks staring at the latest sports news on the tv. The door to the bar is off to my right and out of the corner of my eye I catch someone entering. I, again, casually glance over. It’s you, again. We lock eyes and you give me that same smile. I smile back and turn back to the tv.
