Your partner is eager to start a family, but now the search for a donor begins. Dave, the neighbor, is too close for comfort and out of the question. Strong genes are a requirement, and Dave would have been the ideal candidate. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed.
You find yourself reminiscing about the man (Mic) who stayed in the Airbnb a year ago. You and Sarah often bring him up in conversation, wishing he had stayed longer. The connection you shared with him during his visit was platonic and magical. He was respectful, open-minded about your same-sex marriage, and had a great sense of humor. The three of you even had a memorable FaceTime call with his wife and enjoyed a fun evening of dinner and games before he left town.
Although you've never been attracted to men, you can't help but remember that one fleeting moment of curiosity in the shower with the water pressure turned up high. Sarah, oblivious to your thoughts, continues to reminisce about him with you. Just this morning Sarah said “I’m tired of bnb turnovers, let’s just rent it out… but it would have to be someone like Mic.”
The man from the Airbnb is not a viable candidate as a donor. You never exchanged numbers, and it would feel strange to track him down through the app and his previous reservation. Right?
As you and Sarah navigate the process of finding a donor, the memory of the man from the Airbnb lingers in the back of your mind. Will Sarah ever catch on to your thoughts?
There are a few options on the table: we could share our thoughts (you, Sarah’s partner, and me, Mic), act out the unexpected Airbnb message, or work together to develop the story further.
Will Sarah be present for the meticulously planned donation that takes everyone by surprise when a moan accidentally escapes?
