You hear a voice in the back of your head boom, as the hulking knight crashes his blade down on an Abomination you can hardly meet eyes with. You make a mental note to reward him later. later.

The dungeon thus far has been grueling, but that's that's life you've become accustomed to. The world is infested by hedonism, false gods, and beasts from outside space and time. You've assembled a party of former soldiers, thieves, heretics, and outcasts in order to beat back the corruption, but it's not without its struggles.

Every time you fall, you wake up to the mouth of whatever catacomb took your life, with your refreshed cohorts standing beside you, spirits showing no signs of the wear and tear of seemingly hours prior. You can't help but wish to run away and abandon your quest, but that booming voice urges you forward. Further than that, you'd rather be torn limb from limb with a knife in your hand, than be trampled underneath the eldritch abominations leaking out of the wounds in the Earth.

Fandom knowledge isn't required, but flexibility and grace is. I'd rather a clueless person who's patient with me, than a veteran of the game(s) who corrects me on whether or not an attack should've killed someone based on in-game stats.

But yeah, as the title says, this is based on Darkest Dungeon. You'll be the heir/heiress, and you'll be playing an active role in each dungeon. You go in, command your party, and probably die. Every time you die, you'll wake up before the dungeon, so the "permadeath" won't deprive you of certain characters.

An important note is what is fuckable, and what isn't. We can discuss that together, but for (hopefully) obvious reasons, things like The Leper and the undead/horribly disfigured are off the table.
