It was hard to believe we had reached this point. The kids, the jobs, the soccer games, theâŚ. everything had just taken all the spice out of the marriage. But we werenât the only ones. We heard about the key party at a boring dinner party. It was the juicy gossip for the evening. âWell, I heard so and so was doingâŚ.â Everyone feigned shock and outrage like we were supposed to.
That night was several years ago. It had taken a while for my wife and I to get to this point. We knew it would spice things up. Would it cause jealously? Could our marriage handle it? We had no answers, but we knew things couldnât remain the same.
So here we are. About to knock on the door of a âkey party.â We both knew we would be going with someone else that night. We had been screen but one of the couples so we knew there was some sort of vetting process. Beyond that, it was going to be completely new. We were both nervous as I reached to knock on the door.
Who would draw my keys? Why were you and your husband here? Would things be awkward? A million things ram through my head as my hand knocked on the doorâŚ.
