Night had fallen long ago, but rain was rolling in. I'd driven far from home trying to track you down, and now I was in the middle of nowhere. Being scared of driving in rain, especially at night, I take the next best option - staying in a Super 8 in the nearby small town. I just needed a warm place to sleep, then I'd be gone in the morning, probably still tracking you.

The room I got smelled like an old lady, and the comforter on the bed looking like it came from said old lady's house. But it was a warm place to sleep out of the rain, and I was exhausted.

A crash of thunder woke me in the night, causing me to pull the covers over my head on instinct. It took me a moment in my sleepy stupor, but I quickly realized that was ridiculous. I tossed them off and got up to get a glass of water.... and that's when I saw it. A shadow just outside my bedroom window passing by faster than any human could. Did I just imagine that?

Another crash of thunder and the entire room went dark, as well as the light from the streetlight outside. I'm completely blind and feel helpless as I grope around the room, trying to find my way to my phone. Then I vaguely catch it.... a clicking of the lock on my room door.
