You would be dead if you didn't find a protector soon. Thrown into the Colosseum as monster bait for the crowd's amusement. You'd never been this desperate before in your life. As the daughter of the famous Rosewood family, a powerful house of mages and sorcerers, you'd grown up wanting nothing. Dressed in the finest gowns, spoiled by your father at every turn. But that was all over now that your idiot brother was dead.

Brian Rosewood had been the heir of your house, and a powerfully gifted mage. A good thing too, as he was your father's only son. The Vrokarian Empire was governed by a strict caste system based on magical ability. Because the gift of magic was only granted to men, that left Brian as the hope of your house.

And now he was dead. And he didn't have the curtesy to just die! No, he went and got himself killed on a quest to rescue the Emperor's daughter from the labyrinth! Your brother had been given the honor of leading the expedition to retrieve her. But not only did he fail, the survivors that returned spoke of how his stupidity had gotten the princess killed.

The mages of the Vrokarian Empire followed a might makes right philosophy. Those with power took what they wanted. And with your brother dead, and your father in poor health, there was no one left to protect your house. And while the Emperor wouldn't move against you directly (it would be considered poor form), he had basically declared open season against your house. Saying at a recent court session that he "hoped to see the Rosewood family participate in the next set of games in the Colosseum."

Needless to say, your family was desperate, and you were running out of time. Your first instinct was to call on one of your many suitors. Prior to this fiasco, you'd been considered one of the most eligible bachelorettes in the empire. But your families name was so badly poisoned that none of your former suitors would even speak to you, much less agree to a marriage.

You were going to have lower yourself further if you wanted to survive this. Many of the upper class mages had a small harem, with a number of pretty concubines hanging off their arms. Even if none of your suitors would take you as a wife, surely one of them would want you as a submissive, eager concubine? Surely you wouldn't fall farther than that.

But one thing was certain. If you didn't find a protector soon, you and the rest of your family would be fighting for your life in the Arena in a weeks time at most.

If you've read this far, I hope you liked that introduction to the Vrokarian Empire! I've always loved the idea of a dark, dystopian fantasy world ruled by a cast of mages, and I thought it was a good setting for a story about a fall of a noblewoman.

Now, I feel like this story is flexible enough that it could meander down several different routes. I could see it taking an explicitly dark turn, with terrible fates happening to our heroine. Think being sold to a brothel, drugs, prostitution, etc. A noblewoman turned into a common whore.

But I could also see this ending in more of a consensual Dom/Sub romance! Maybe she does find a mage willing to take her on as a concubine. Their relationship would start as one of necessity for her, with their bond deepening as the story progresses. Although I'd always want their relationship to have strong Dom/Sub or Master/Slave dynamics, it could explore a real romance between the two characters!

I like both of these potential twists on the story, but I'm leaning towards the later, I've been wanting some good romance lately, even if it is more on the kinky side of things.

Now, a note on harems. I hinted at powerful mages having them in the story prompt, and if you peak at my history you'll see that harems are a big kink of mine. If you like that angle, great! I'd love to include. But I created this particular prompt to be more flexible, so a harem isn't required at all for this story. So if that's not a kink of yours, don't let it stop you from messaging me. (You will definitely jump to the front of the queue if you do like that though)

Also, it's in the title, but I want to highlight this here; for the moment, I'm only playing on Discord. I just find the Reddit inbox a frustrating place to organize a story, and it never seems to work out for me, so I'm sticking to Discord from now on.
