Although the sun falls through the tall arched windows, the air in the unfamiliar examination room is cool. The older woman at the front desk had told me to wait here. But since there are no normal chairs, I'm not sure if I should sit down somewhere or not. So I stand there a bit forlorn and shift my weight back and forth.

The room is spacious and looks like it's from another time. The ceiling is high, the floor is tiled with white tiles interspersed with small blue ones, the walls and the rest of the furniture are cream; this gives the room a certain grandeur and something intimidating. White medical cupboards line the walls of the room. An examination chair with leg supports and upholstered in white leather is in one corner. In another there is an old dentist's chair. There are also a couch, scales and mobile metal shelves covered with paper towels.

I look at time on my phone. I've been waiting for 10 minutes now ...

I sigh and turn around. The door opens.
