There were more women on the force now, and I fit in, being tall and fit from my years of rugby. I went in with high hopes of making a difference, but after five years of walking the beat in uniform, dealing with drunks and addicts all the time I was starting to get disillusioned. I saw how nothing changed. How many of the other cops were taking kickbacks, bribes, abusing their authority.

So, why shouldn’t I get a taste? It started with a bit of cash to turn a blind eye here and there. To not write a ticket. Then it was a quick roll with one of the younger, prettier hookers. Cop discount, she didn’t charge me to eat me out. Why not release some stress? Dated a stripper for a while and took kickbacks from her boss to let him know if there was ever a raid.

That’s where I was when I met you. Maybe I pulled you over for a DUI. Maybe I caught you dealing or buying drugs. Maybe you were working a corner and didn’t want to be arrested. Whatever it was, you didn’t want to be arrested. And I was going to make you work for it.
