This year my parents moved to a community in the California desert outside Los Angeles. As people their age do. They’ve been really happy in their new place, making new friends and enjoying the warm climate. Now they’ve invited everyone to celebrate Christmas with them.

The thing is, they moved into a naturist community. Literally everyone other than the guy manning the gate wears nothing but sandals, a sun hat and sunscreen.

Like I said, my parents love it and say it’s such a free and peaceful feeling to just drop all pretense and approach everyone on the same level. They’re practically evangelicals for the naturist cause now! That’s great for them, YOLO, you do you, all that, but now they want the family to join in.

They live in a condo which is not at all large enough to host our relatives so we’ll be sharing the main community room next to the swimming pool with other celebrations. From what they’ve told me it’s a really nice setup where each family can decorate their own tree and you have places to sit and there’s a great buffet that everyone dines from. Plus there’s the pool to enjoy!

It’s a public area in the community which means no clothing is allowed.
