I never expected so many community festivities when I moved into the Tanglewood Estates housing development. St. Patrick's Day, 4th of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and of course, Halloween. My wife and I frequently attended, though she got bored of them later, before she left me. I enjoyed them thoroughly, the pageantry, the colorful outfits my neighbors wore, the joy and sense of place. And there was the occasional rumor of other parties, at houses where the decorations weren't quite as elaborate, but very refined and tasteful. Rumors my wife rolled her eyes at, while I yearned to learn more. And now, a year after the divorce, my favorite night of the year, Halloween, is just a day away! Tomorrow I'm dressing up, watching the crowds, and walking down the street to the address on the little card I was handed a week ago.
