Got inspired by a post I saw here a few days ago.

Allie and Jake had been dating forever it seemed like. They were a good couple, happy, fun. There was one phrase that had become a running joke for them over the years:

"You can do that to me when you wife me up."

Allie would say that jokingly, when something kinky happened in a TV series or a movie. Or a friend would mention something naughty and Allie would smile at Jake and they both knew what she was thinking:

"You can do that to me when you wife me up."

It wasn't a promise. It wasn't even serious. A laugh. A callback. A little inside joke.

And now it's been years together, and gosh, Jake really does love her, and maybe he should propose.

He did it by the book. Big rock. Fancy dinner. Photographer. On his knee in the park where they went on their first date. She said yes, of course.

And that night, as they made love (and it was strictly speaking making love, Jake joked again: "maybe I'll do all those things I said I'd do when I wife you up".

And Allie was just quiet for a moment and said...

"Yes babe. You can do whatever you want to me."
