Apologies for the length of this prompt - there’s a decent amount of worldbuilding setup to this one to create space for what should be some interesting character pairings. I’m up for alterations or similar ideas, and would want to do a healthy amount of discussions before we start any RP based on this idea. If you read this prompt and want to RP with me, please tell me what you felt, what you liked and what you’d like to change or add, what excites you…I want to get a sense of what you’ll bring to the RP!

The year is 2XXX, and the world is doomed. You know, like we’ve all been hearing since at least the year 2000? Except this time, it was a scientific fact, and not hyperbole. Whatever necessary macguffin had been found by a world government several years ago in fact. The scandal that had broken by the time enough countries leadership and people knew about it for a courageous whistleblower to break it to the public had been bad, the riots worse. The only thing that saved the world from falling into total anarchy from the knowledge that all life was doomed….was that the unstoppable extinction event was 35 years away.

Enough time for humanity to come together, and while certainly billions would die, it was far enough away that life could still be worth living in an orderly fashion, at least until much closer to the end, and also human ingenuity could be focused on the problem, and the species might survive in the cosmos. On Mars, the only possible destination close enough and livable enough once the earth was gone.

And so began the action portion of the montage, as political inaction and bureaucracy gave way to collaboration and feats of engineering prowess. A plan was created..well, hundreds were, but through firm leadership and mostly secrecy for the security of the human race, a single plan and timeline was set out, with as many redundancies as possible.

The biggest constraint working against survival was the round trip time. For any mission sent to Mars, to arrive would take years, let alone to realize problems that might occur after Day 1, if the mission even reached Mars at all. Years the mission didn’t have.

No, it was imperative to start sending missions, with the best chance of success possible at the time and based on the known information, as soon as possible.

And then the problems began. Any mission that was intended to land on Mars needed highly trained and qualified personnel, who all tended to be past their youngest days. Their life expectancies before the imminent death of Earth had been known were certainly more than 35 more years…but by the time everything ended they would have lived full lives.

Of course some would be filled with an abundance of patriotism, with Independence Day having yearly resurgences in popularity in this new reality, but plenty of others would not be willing, and that was bad for the mission math. And therefore something had to be done to persuade such people that it was worth coming along.

This, among many other equally morally ambiguous decisions, were yet another reminder of why these missions had to be run with total secrecy. The solution they came up with was to go public, to lift the veil of secrecy and spark public interest in volunteering….with a slightly altered version of what the staffing would look like on these missions, codenamed ARKs.

In addition to all of the real scientists, agriculturalists, engineers and medical professionals sent on each pod, there would be historians, teachers, artists, and many other fields, designed to represent a cross section of human life, and equip any one of these ARKs, if able to reach the destination and set up a base, a chance to propagate life, and with balance gender makeups, though of course dating options would be quite slim, and people needed to understand that. Of course existing relationships could not be respected, as it was too unlikely skillsets would be complimentary enough that partners could be staffed together. It was hard, but they were just mandating what was best for the human race.

With all the ARKs being sent towards the same locations, if both volunteered and were selected individually, a reunion might be possible, but there were no guarantees, and rumors said some number of ARKs simply blew up while taking off.

Any volunteers could contact one of the literally thousands of recruitment centers to apply, where detailed information would be taken through a progressively narrowing list of candidates, and lucky volunteers would be further briefed once selected.

Of course, that was the public version, and it obtained quite a few omissions, even as the detailed blueprint of “The inner-workings of an ARK” was proudly broadcast worldwide to help with the advertisements and show that it wasn’t that makeshift of a vehicle, even as the spacious individual rooms were shown in both the “Mens Quarters” and “Women’s Quarters” that were symmetrically on opposite sides of the shuttle.

Of course, 90% of the space listed on the blueprints as “Women’s Quarters” was actually fuel and equipment storage, and what was actually there was just a long row of individual break-apart cages, but more on that in a moment.

The whole “volunteer” thing was BS too. Well, kind of. None of the experts would be volunteering, or at least not a meaningful number of them. No, all the people who could help or give their ARKs a real shot had been indentified. They were the VIPs of all genders (let’s have this conveniently work based on our sexual preferences?), and it was their individual dormitories that were shown as the Men’s Quarters on the blueprint.

All of the volunteers, well, they were volunteering for a spot in one of those cages, unbeknownst to them. The selection process, while it did take some skills into account as they would be useful, was mostly a discrete rating system to make sure selected volunteers would be found pleasing to their to-be counterpart.

Recruitment became much easier, because even the least patriotic person, upon being told the details and how as soon as the ARK launched there was to be a matching ceremony where each crewmember got to return to their room with a cage and their personally matched companion who was theirs to do whatever they wanted to, for the duration of the trip, and even life on Mars until and unless a society was fully established that decided to end this arrangement? Well, that certainly changed the life fun expectancy math for almost everyone, and it wasn’t long before the first crewed ARK mission was ready to board, to much pomp and circumstance and news crews of every nation, filming as a single file line of brave volunteers solemnly boarded the shuttle, some looking fearful, others barely concealing …grins?

As each person boarded, the captain greeted them, shook their hand thanking them for their bravery and service, before directing actual crew members one way, and unwitting victims the other to their dorms. And while the crew found lavish accommodations with any custom requests and items they had wanted, all the others found was a quick stun gun to the neck, before being unceremoniously shoved in the next available cage as they were quickly stacked on top of each other during the boarding process in a very businesslike and official manner, as the foreman occasionally quieted the room, announcing that everything would be explained after takeoff.

I think that’s enough, so I’ll stop there, but I’m quite open to a few ways of continuing from here, whether that is with playing out the ceremony as a way of introducing characters that we already built out and paired with each other, or more of an auction based on importance of the job and seniority, so whoever is the most senior and raises their paddle wins, and each customer gets one prize as a way of creating interesting pairings, or even skipping it entirely to start earlier or later. We can also discuss characters who knew each other prior to volunteering - I imagine this would be easy to work in, with any skilled volunteers indicating a list of people they really wanted if they “just so happened to volunteer”.

Let’s also discuss the tone, kinks, whether we make it to Mars with any of our pairings or just fuck a lot on the shuttle, and all the other things!

Kinks: Dubcon/Noncon, male or futa dominants, gaslighting/manipulation, pet play, incest, pain, bondage, anal, full nelson, rimming, massive cocks, all things BDSM, watersports, breathplay, sensory deprivation, toys, fun character pairings and contrasts, character dynamics that evolve over time, detailed RPs, so many more

Limits: scat, sexualized gore, animals, underage, pregnancy in a non-background context, lactation
